Parking Lot Break-ins 2

Student Voice, Moorpark College, Moorpark, CA

13 hours ago by Barb Lanier

I went out on Tuesday this week to look for expensive articles left in people's cars to submit to the Student Voice.

First of all, I have to say that it was blazing hot on Tuesday at 2:30 in the afternoon on that blacktop, surrounded by huge chunks of metal. The first thing I noticed through my ever increasing beads of sweat was that I wasn't finding anything of value in anyone's car.

The second thing I was becoming aware of was that I felt like I was the one who was on the prowl. When I did find a car with some CDs in open view, the sun was glaring so much that I couldn't even get a shot worthy of saving none the less showing.

So I left the parking lot with my tail between my legs, hot and sweaty with no pictures. Although what I did do was set up my own car with an ipod and wallet in the cup holder, roll down the window and there was my shot of what not to leave in your front seat while at school.

Signs of Loyola Marymount's tremendous growth are everywhere. A stunning new addition to the Burns Fine Arts Center is almost complete, the Hannon Library is well on its way to being the envy of universities everywhere and the athletics department has moved its coaches to state of the art offices in the Leavey Center.

Wal-Mart Ad

Dear Editor,

We find it disconcerting that the newspaper of a school that dedicates itself to social justice included an advertisement for a company like Wal-Mart.

Yet Another Gun Scare On A College Campus? 1

Student Voice, Moorpark College, Moorpark, CA

11 hours ago by Nick Mercuro

I logged into our online paper this afternoon to find out that that Ventura College was under lockdown. Upon further reading I learned that Campus Police suspected a teenage gunman was on campus.

The gunman was eventually caught, and the firearm found, but what if police were too late?

Reading about stuff like this stirs up memories of Columbine, and certainly Virginia Tech. Both disturbing events, but this event happened on one of the VCCCD campuses.

It's pretty scary to think that it could have just as easily happened at Moorpark, where I attend 4 days a week. It's even scarier to think that this could have been yet another higher education tragedy. This was an incident that was reported and dealt with promptly.

Kudos to the Campus Police for dealing with this threat promptly, and keeping us safe.

The Bible is not for children 1

The Bible is a book that contains very violent, if not strange, subject matter which should not be available to children.
