Ventura College initiated a lockdown due to reports of a teenage gunman on campus, at 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Conflicting reports indicate the age of the suspect to be between 14 and 17. Shortly after he was caught, the loaded firearm was found hidden in the cafeteria.

?Six bicycle thefts have been reported on campus since the start of the 2008-2009 school year. The suspect, who had been at large for some time, was recently apprehended outside the back gates of campus. The suspect is currently in custody.

The window of a Department of Public Safety SUV was shattered on Thursday by what Los Angeles Police Department and DPS officers said they believe was a bullet, according to officers at the scene.

The gunshot, from an unknown shooter, shattered the window near the intersection of 37th Street and Vermont Avenue just after 1 p.

The Cerritos College Board of Trustees has appointed Bill Farmer as acting President/Superintendent.

The decision became effective on July 31 and was a move by board members that will ultimately finalize into the installment of an interim president.

The former President/ Superintendent Dr. Noelia Vela left to take the position of Chancellor at San Bernardino Community College District.
