February 2008

Welcome to BORED, the column that lets you know what is happening in L.A. So if your studies have got you down or you are just plain bored, then get out and enjoy this amazing city we live in.

B is for Barrister's Ball: It’s time for SW’s annual Barrister's Ball. On Feb. 29, get all dolled up and spend a night dancing with your significant other, that girl from Torts you have a crush, or all by yourself. This year, it is located at Castaway, a beautiful banquet hall in Burbank. Worried about transportation? Get a group of students together and rent a limo or a party bus. Whatever you decide, this is the one even  of the year NOT to miss. Look for tickets in front of Westmoreland or with your SBA representative. Get them before they are gone.

O is for Only This Month: It’s time for Bison Week. Starting Feb. 11, SW will celebrate its annual spirit week. Come celebrate Billy the Bison with all your friends. Look for daily events, including the Hoover Mock Trial, a ping-pong tournament, cultural food fair, and a special Valentine’s Day bar review. If you are interested in helping out, please contact Lindsay Gardner at lgardner@swlaw.edu.

R is for Recreation: Have you ever wondered what it would be like to run 26.2 miles for no reason other than the thrill of it? Well if you have, get ready, set, go! The L.A. Marathon has arrived. On Mar. 2, thousands of people will crowd the streets of Los Angeles to either watch or run this exhausting and exhilarating event. Visit lamarathon.com for more information.

E is for Entertainment: If you are anything like me, you like movies, and I like to see all the movies that are nominated for an Oscar in the Best Picture category. So get your head out of that Con Law book and head on out to your favorite theater. My pick for best picture this year is "There Will Be Blood." "No Country for Old Men" is phenomenal, too.

D is for Donate: The Tax Law Society is looking for a few good number crunchers. Help out your community by preparing taxes for low income families and the elderly. Donate as much time as you need until April 15, 2008. For more information, contact Albert DiMarco at adimarco@
swlaw.edu.
