Valentine's Day Lines

On Valentine’s Day, people are usually in the mood for a great romantic movie. And really, what’s a great romantic movie without a great romantic line? So if you find yourself out of ideas for what to do on Valentine’s Day, here are some of my favorite romantic movies that you can’t go wrong with, along with my favorite line from each film:

Chunking Express (1994): If you haven’t yet, it’s about time you introduced yourself to the films of Wong Kar Wai. “If memories could be canned, would they also have expiry dates? If so, I hope they last for centuries.”

Notting Hill (1999): A romantic movie that’s actually funny. Both Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts are at their best here. Favorite line: “Happiness isn’t happiness without a violin-playing goat.”

Trouble in Paradise (1932): One of my all time favorite films. “Marriage is a beautiful mistake, which two people make together.”

Roman Holiday (1953): William Wyler. Gregory Peck. Audrey Hepburn. Rome. What more do you need to know? “I don’t know how to say goodbye. I can’t think of any words.” “Don’t try.”

Beauty and the Beast (1991): A classic. “She glanced this
way, I thought I saw ... And when we touched, she didn’t shudder at my paw..."
